artist sittoula sitlakone locating spaces   Artist Sittoula (a.k.a. Sitt) Sitlakone

Born in Laos in 1979, migrated to Sydney Australia at the age of six. Moved to a country town called Albury at age nine, where he grew up and was naturalized. His HSC major artwork was selected for Art Express and the other major work was awarded and purchased by the school.

1998
After high school, had his first successful art show at a local Café. Enrolled into a Fine Arts course at Tafe and got involved with the Albury Youth Council, was commissioned to graffiti the local skate park and produced back drops for youth events.

1999 – 2000
With being brought up as a Buddhist he had committed to the religion by ordination to study and practice meditation techniques for 12 months.

2000 - 2002
Studied Web Design at Tafe and with a bunch of mates started a dance party production where he promoted and produced art installations and backdrops.

2002 – 2005
Wanting to practice art and spirituality. He moved into a Buddhist community at Wat Buddha Dhamma retreat centre in the Dharug National park Wisemans Ferry NSW. Ended up becoming the manager for two years where he learnt his important life skills.

2005 – 2009
Moved to Brisbane after being inspired by reading Michael Leunig's bio he went onto become a part-time factory labourer and spend the other half of his time on his art. Ended up becoming a full time factory labourer, which took up most of his time.

2009 – 2012
Moved to Sydney and set up an art studio at Salmagundi Studios Arncliffe. Freelanced in web design, studied Graphic Design & communications at Enmore Design Centre.

Present
Currently working on his first major art show and has relocated to Jervis Bay NSW.
